Prerequisite:  

This course is intended for IT professionals looking to evaluate or deploy Microsoft Azure.

 

To fully benefit from this course, students should have the following prerequisite skills and knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of Virtualization technologies

  • Understanding of cloud computing

  • Prior experience with Hyper-V or other virtualization technologies

  • Previous storage configuration experience

  • Previous networking configuration experience

 

Course overview:

This course is designed for IT professionals looking to understand the Microsoft Azure Infrastructure components, including virtual machines, virtual networks, migrating, extending, running, managing and monitoring common workloads in the cloud. The course will guide student through the process of managing virtual machines, websites, and cloud services in Microsoft Azure.

 

Course Content
  • Module 1:

Introduction to Microsoft Azure After completing this module, students will be able to describe cloud computing and how it relates to Microsoft Azure. Students will learn how to sign up for Microsoft Azure and explore the Management Portal. 

Lab: Planning for Cloud Computing

  • Module 2:

Azure Services This module introduces students to all of the services that are available with Microsoft Azure. Students get a brief introduction to the services and then learn how to plan for a migration to Microsoft Azure.

  • Module 3:

Azure Data Services After completing this module, students will understand the types of storage offered by Microsoft Azure and how to manage those different storage options. Students will use Azure PowerShell to manage and create storage in Microsoft Azure. Students will also learn how to create and manage an Azure SQL Database.

Lab: Configuring Azure Data Services

  • Module 4:

Azure Network Services This module describes how virtual networks can be used in Microsoft Azure. Students will learn how to implement a virtual network, configure DNS for a virtual network, and configure cross-premises connectivity with Microsoft Azure. Students will also learn how to implement Traffic Manager and the benefit of this service.

  • Module 5:

Azure Compute Services This module will introduce you to the website, cloud service, and virtual machine services offered by Microsoft Azure. After this module, you will be able to decide when to use each service and how to configure each service.

  • Module 6:

Azure Active Directory This module will introduce the students to the Azure Active Directory. Students will learn how to manage users and access to cloud resources, extend their on-premises AD to the cloud, provide single sign-on across cloud applications, enable multi-factor authentication, and provide authentication and access management for developers.

  • Module 7:

Azure Data Management This module introduces the students to the topic of big data. Students will learn how to use HDInsight to manage data of any type. Students will also learn how to use Azure Backup to back up and recover company data to the cloud.

  • Module 8:

Windows Azure Pack for Windows Server This module will describe the Windows Azure Pack for Windows Server. Students will learn how to deploy the Windows Azure Pack and how to provision services using the Windows Azure Pack for Windows Server.
