AI for Youth – Introduction to Artificial Intelligence

Schedule:  Flexible (  3 hrs/week,  8 weeks program)

Group: 5 to 10 students 

 

Course Objective

  • Introduce students to the fundamental concepts of Artificial Intelligence.

  • Explain how AI impacts our lives and future careers.

  • Encourage creative problem-solving using AI-powered tools.

  • Teach ethical and responsible use of AI technologies.

  • Empower students to build their own mini AI projects.

 

Course Modules

 

Module 1: Introduction to AI

  • What is Artificial Intelligence?

  • History & Evolution of AI

  • Examples of AI in daily life (Alexa, YouTube, Self-driving cars)

  • Human vs. Machine Intelligence

  • Activity: Identify AI around you (home, school, mobile apps)

 

Module 2: How Machines Think

  • Data, Patterns, and Predictions

  • What is Machine Learning (ML)?

  • Introduction to datasets, training, and predictions

  • Types of Machine Learning: Supervised vs. Unsupervised

  • Activity: Train a model using Teachable Machine (Google tool)

 

Module 3: AI Tools for Beginners

  • Teachable Machine – create image, sound, and pose AI

  • Machine Learning for Kids – drag-and-drop AI projects

  • Scratch + ML Extensions – build interactive projects

  • ChatGPT & DALL·E – Generate text and images with AI

  • Activity: Create a game that responds to gestures or voice

 

Module 4: AI in the Real World

  • AI in Robotics, Healthcare, Education, Transportation

  • AI in Google, Amazon, Netflix, Tesla

  • AI for social good: detecting wildfires, language translation

  • Activity: Watch real-world AI in action (interactive videos)

 

Module 5: Responsible AI & Ethics

  • Can AI be biased?

  • AI & Privacy – What data should we share?

  • Human decisions vs. AI predictions

  • Future careers in AI – what students can do today

  • Activity: Group discussion: “Should robots make decisions?”

 

Module 6: AI Mini Project & Showcase

  • Plan, design, and build a basic AI-powered project

    • Examples:

      • Hand-gesture controlled game

      • Image recognition app

      • AI chatbot using Scratch

      • Personal assistant using voice commands

 

  • Final Presentation: Students present their AI projects to parents/peers
